In order to promote innovative research and cooperation between Chinese and American scientists in the software field, according to the framework of scientific cooperation between the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the National Science Foundation of the United States, the two sides will jointly fund cooperative research projects between scientists of the two countries. This project aims to fund original research in the field of computer software. The National Natural Science Foundation of China will provide up to 3 million yuan for each project, and the project will be implemented for three years to support the cooperative research expenses, international travel expenses and living expenses of researchers in China; NSF will also provide corresponding subsidies for cooperative research expenses, international travel expenses and living expenses of American scientists.

I. Description of the Project

(1) Number of supported projects: 2.

(2) Project implementation date: 3 years (2014.1~ 2016.12.31).

(3) Funding field: computer software (application code: F0202).

China applicants must choose the application code "F0202" to fill in the Chinese application form. Applications that fail to fill in the specified application code as required will not be accepted.

Second, the application requirements

(a) the Chinese applicant should have a senior professional and technical position (title), and should be the person in charge who is undertaking or has undertaken the National Natural Science Foundation project for more than 3 years.

(2) Chinese and American scientists should have a good foundation for cooperation. On the basis of full communication and consultation, reach an understanding on the composition of the research team and the division of tasks between the two parties, form a research plan, and submit an application to the foundation of their respective countries. Unilateral applications will be considered invalid.

(III) Project name: In order to facilitate the identification of the project management department, the applicant should use the format of "Sino-US software cooperation research project: * * * * * *" when filling in the Chinese project name (note: * * * * * is the specific research topic). The English project names submitted by both parties must be exactly the same.

(4) In addition to filling out and submitting Chinese applications online, China applicants must also submit Chinese application attachments in the "Islamic State" system, including:

1, English resume of American partner;

2. Cooperation agreement or cooperation confirmation letter signed by both parties;

3. A copy of the English application submitted by the American partner to NSF.

The applicant logs into the "Islamic State" system, and after being examined and confirmed by the scientific research department of the supporting unit, submits the Chinese electronic application form and its attachments to our Committee. Paper application and attachment materials shall be printed, signed and sealed by the supporting unit.

(V) Submission: This project adopts centralized receiving method. After completing the online application, the applicant needs to print a set of paper Chinese application form with the acceptance number of the Ministry of Science generated by the "Islamic State" system, and sign and affix the official seal of the supporting unit, together with the attachment materials listed in Article 4 of this part (Address: No.83 Shuangqing Road, Haidian District, Beijing; Postal code: 100085). The Natural Science Foundation of China does not accept project materials directly submitted by individuals or non-supporting units.
