China University of Mining and Technology, located in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, a national "211 Project", "985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform" and a national "double first-class" construction university.

It is also a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, the People's Republic of China and the State Administration of Work Safety.

Selected into the “111 Plan” and “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program”.

As of May 2020, the school has two campuses, Wenchang Campus and Nanhu Campus, with more than 3,100 faculty and staff of various types.

The school has 22 colleges and two independent colleges, including Xuhai College and Yinchuan College.

There are 63 undergraduate majors, 33 first-level discipline master’s degree programs, 18 professional degree granting programs, 17 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 16 postdoctoral research stations, and 1 first-level discipline national key discipline.

China University of Mining and Technology Faculty: As of March 2022, the school has more than 3,400 faculty and staff, 2,129 full-time teachers, including 489 employed professors, 883 associate professors, 475 doctoral supervisors, and 1,573 master's supervisors, with Ph.D.

Among the teaching team, there are 4 national-level teaching teams, 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China innovation research groups, 4 Ministry of Education innovation teams, and 15 outstanding scientific and technological innovation teams in Jiangsu universities.

It has 16 academicians of the two academies (including external ones), 5 national-level teaching teachers, 88 national-level high-end talents, 176 people enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, and 12 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding national contributions.

4 people won the National May Day Labor Medal, 3 people were named "National Model Teachers", 5 people were named "National Outstanding Teachers", and 7 people were awarded the National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Workers.
