On February 16th, 1918, Lithuania declared its independence and established the Republic of Lithuania. After the signing of the Secret Protocol of Non-aggression Treaty between the Soviet Union and Germany on August 23, 1939, the Soviet army moved into Lithuania, which was incorporated into the Soviet territory, but the United States and other western countries still recognized Lithuania's independent status. On March 11, 199, Lithuania regained its independence from the Soviet Union and was recognized by the Soviet Union in September of the following year. Lithuania's national day is February 16th, and March 11th, 199 is called "Restoration of Independence Day", because Lithuanians think that they have been a sovereign and independent country since 1918, and the Soviet occupation is illegal. So Lithuania has been founded for 92 years.
