Do you want to be a good communicator? More examples can make you get twice the result with half the effort.

When adults communicate, they like to use abstract concepts. It seems that the concepts are not abstract and they cannot show their professionalism.

When I am a reporter in financial newspapers and periodicals, I often interview some senior investors such as economists and fund managers. They often specialize in a certain profession. When they are eloquent, it is very easy to say a series of technical terms. Even as a financial reporter, some concepts are not immediately understood.

The readers of financial media are often ordinary people, who need understandable financial knowledge and can guide their lives. At this time, the requirements for journalists to "how to listen and how to speak" are very high. It is necessary to build a bridge between experts and scholars and ordinary people, so that professional "golden knowledge" (financial popularization knowledge) can also fly into the homes of ordinary people.

I have accumulated some experience in my years of editing and editing work. If I encounter professional concepts that are not easy to understand during the interview, I will try my best to ask the other party to give examples. This method can also be used in our daily life communication, so that we can better "learn to listen and learn to speak" and make the communication between the two sides smoother.

should be carefully selected when giving examples, in order to make your general statement more vivid and understandable. Many people find it difficult to understand general words, especially those highly abstract generalizations. Through a concrete example, abstract narratives can be vividly described, making them easier to be understood.

If you can't understand what others are saying, you should and need to ask them to give you an example. If they can't give you a satisfactory example, then it's very doubtful whether they can't figure out the meaning of their words.

When we say something abstract and general to others, we can give a concrete example to illustrate it, so that others can understand it more easily. When we can't understand what others are saying, we can also ask them to give examples.

On July 17th, the A-share market in Shanghai and Shenzhen suddenly fluctuated violently. On that day, nearly 5 stocks in the two cities fell below the limit, and the Growth Enterprise Market even fell below the 17 mark, setting a new low of more than two years. Many investors exclaimed that "the stock market crash is coming".

In the 1th "Fun Investment Afternoon Tea", a live video talk show hosted by me at 4pm that day, the guest interviewed was Zhang Yixiang, the chairman of Beijing Uranium Chain Investment Company, the fund manager of a sunshine private equity firm as a macro strategy fund, and he was also the vice president of the Financial Association of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, with a professional background.

In the interview, Zhang Yixiang said that his investment philosophy is "timing first, stock second". First of all, we should seize the general trend and seize the opportunity. First of all, we should accurately understand the Party's policies, which is determined by China's national conditions. Then how to understand the party's policies? He gave everyone a suggestion: watch the news broadcast every day, read the front page of People's Daily every day, and be familiar with the spirit of the party's documents.

This suggestion is actually abstract and general, because everyone watches News Network every day, but they can read different information from it, which is helpful for investment, but only a few people can do it. So I let the audience understand his suggestion better by asking him to give an example.

In the program, the dialogue between us is as follows:

Through such questions and answers and examples, the suggestion of "Be sure to watch the news broadcast every day, be sure to read the front page of People's Daily every day, and be familiar with the spirit of the party's documents" is easier to implement and has certain operability.

Einstein said that it is more important to ask a question than to solve it. "Give an example" is a good question. In the future work and life, when communicating with people, you might as well use it more and skillfully.

For me, starting from tomorrow, when interviewing professionals, I will continue to use the method of "giving an example" to encourage the other party to explain an abstruse and obscure knowledge point with simple and easy-to-understand examples, which also shows that the other party really understands this knowledge point.

Similarly, when I have the opportunity to explain a knowledge point, besides giving more examples myself, I can also ask the other person to give examples in his life after listening to the explanation, and explain the knowledge point he has understood, which can also show whether the other person has really learned and mastered this knowledge point.

For example, when I teach my daughter how to open a book note tomorrow, I will give an example on page P27 of This Reading is Enough-Pursuing Excellence (Personal Growth Edition), and urge her to learn to "write a thank-you card" through this learning method, and ask her to give an example of expressing gratitude to others or receiving gratitude from others in her life, so as to realize the power of gratitude more strongly.

Have you learned how to listen and speak in communication now?
