Department of Metallurgy (Metallurgical Engineering) of Chongqing University was founded in 1935. At that time, it was affiliated to the Department of Mining and Metallurgy, and it was a major in mining and metallurgy. After the founding of New China, metallurgical specialty was separated from the Department of Mining and Metallurgy, and the Department of Metallurgy was established. Before 1979, our school had two majors: ironmaking and steelmaking. The scope of metallurgical engineering now includes three undergraduate majors: iron and steel metallurgy, nonferrous metallurgy and metallurgical physical chemistry.

The Department of Metallurgical Engineering (Metallurgical Discipline) of Chongqing University has the right to award doctoral degrees in only a few metallurgical first-class disciplines in China, namely, three doctoral programs in iron and steel metallurgy, nonferrous metallurgy and metallurgical physical chemistry. In 1960s, in order to meet the demand of national economic development for materials talents, the Department of Materials Science was established. At that time, it was named the teaching and research section of metal material heat treatment technology and equipment, and the first student of this major graduated from 1965. So far, the department has trained more than 2000 senior professionals for the country. With the development of science and technology and the improvement of social requirements for talents' quality, especially the professional transformation in recent years, the department has made great adjustments to the teaching content and scientific research direction, and gradually shifted from the heat treatment of metal materials to the development of high-performance high-tech materials. In recent years, teaching hardware facilities have been greatly improved. At present, the teaching experimental center of basic materials of Chongqing University has been built, and several sets of high-grade imported experimental equipment have been purchased in combination with the construction of the school 2 1 1 project.

Department of Building Materials Engineering
Department of Building Materials Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Chongqing University (hereinafter referred to as the Department of Building Materials), formerly the Department of Building Materials in chongqing jianzhu university, majoring in inorganic non-metallic materials engineering. Postgraduate training includes master of materials science, master of materials physics and chemistry, doctor of materials science, and post-doctoral mobile station of materials science and engineering.
Inorganic nonmetallic materials engineering undergraduate major, that is, building materials engineering undergraduate major before 1990s. This major was founded in 1959, where 1983 obtained the master's degree and 1995 obtained the doctor's degree. After decades of efforts, it has developed to a certain scale and has an important influence and position in the field of building materials in China. From 1959 to 200 1, more than 2,560 undergraduates have been trained nationwide, including 80 masters and 7 doctors, who have become the backbone of the national building materials industry. At present, there are 350 undergraduates, 50 master students and 0 doctoral students in this major.
There are 38 teachers in the Department of Building Materials, including 4 doctoral supervisors, 7 professors, 5 associate professors (or senior engineers) 12 lecturers and 4 teaching assistants. With the rapid development of China's architectural decoration industry, the country's demand for architectural decoration engineering talents has increased sharply. The Department of Building Decoration Materials and Engineering of the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University (hereinafter referred to as the Decoration Department) inherits the fine tradition of Chongqing University, conforms to the needs of national construction and development, actively integrates teaching resources, strives to give full play to professional characteristics, and constantly makes new contributions to cultivating research-oriented and compound senior talents in the new era.
Decoration department has the specialty of inorganic nonmetallic material engineering (architectural decoration engineering and materials). Since the former Department of Building Materials of chongqing jianzhu university began to recruit students majoring in building decoration engineering and materials in 1993 and took the lead in recruiting undergraduates majoring in building decoration engineering in China in 1997, this major has been implementing the educational policy of integrating technology, management and art, and relying on the rich disciplines and specialties of Chongqing University, it has trained more than 100 graduate students, undergraduates and junior college students 1000. At the same time, nearly 15% of outstanding undergraduate graduates are recommended to be exam-free graduate students every year, and about 15% of graduates pass the graduate examination to become graduate students of our school or other famous schools. The Department of Decoration has a strong academic strength, including doctoral supervisors, professors, associate professors, senior engineers, lecturers and other multi-level teachers, involving decorative arts, decorative design, decorative construction management, decorative engineering budget, building decorative materials and other disciplines. In addition to publishing a large number of papers, monographs and textbooks with high academic value in theory, he also has rich theoretical teaching experience and rich engineering practice ability. Most of them have presided over or participated in the design of some large and medium-sized decoration projects. In view of the strong practical ability of this major, it is equipped with a large number of advanced teaching equipment, and has established training bases in schools such as art room, computer application training room, decoration material performance laboratory, decoration structure laboratory, decoration model making room, and professional information reading room. At the same time, we will build an off-campus teaching and training base with some architectural decoration enterprises with strong design and construction ability, great industry influence and keen on education.

This major is a comprehensive engineering application technology major integrating machinery, electronics and materials. Cultivate senior engineering and technical personnel who master the basic theory of various materials forming, mold design, forming technology and equipment, automatic control of forming process, etc.
