The Shanghai Composite Index was published by the Shanghai Stock Exchange on 199 1, taking "points" as the unit, with the benchmark date of 1990 19 in February and the benchmark index of 100. Later, the Shanghai A-share and B-share indices were added to reflect the respective trends of different stocks. Shanghai Stock Exchange also has classified indexes, namely industrial index, business index, real estate index and public utility index, to reflect the respective trends of stocks in different industries. What people call "market" now refers to the Shanghai Composite Index to a great extent.
In the history of China, the highest point of the Shanghai Composite Index was 6 100, and the time was at the end of 2007100. At present, it is around 4000 points.
