There are three common western medicine names: generic name, English name and trade name.
generic name: refers to China's China Approved Drug Names (CADN), which is the legal name of drugs organized by the Pharmacopoeia Committee in accordance with the Naming Principles for Generic Names of Drugs and reported to the Ministry of Health for the record. It is the generic name of drugs with the same ingredient or the same formula in China, which is mandatory and binding. Therefore, generic names must be used on the labels, instructions or packages of drugs that are listed and circulated. Its naming shall conform to the provisions of the Principles for Naming General Names of Drugs and shall not be used for trademark registration.
trade name: the product name determined by the pharmaceutical manufacturer and approved by the pharmaceutical supervisory and administrative department. It is proprietary and cannot be copied. Under a common name, there may be multiple commodity names due to different manufacturers.
For example, in the figure below, "amlodipine besylate tablets" is the generic name, and all drugs with the same ingredients should be called this generic name. However, different pharmaceutical manufacturers can name their products with amlodipine besylate tablets with different trade names. The product produced in Pfizer is called "Luohuoxi", and the product produced by Dongrui Pharmaceutical is named "Annezhen".
