The generic name of a product cannot be registered, as the Trademark Law clearly stipulates. Like the example you gave: Chengqi and Fuqi are common names for goods and cannot be registered as trademarks. However, if it is used as a constituent element of a trademark, it is okay to add distinctive words in front of it. Only the common name part requires giving up exclusive rights and is not protected by trademark law.
