What are the steps for trademark registration in Finland?

1. Trademark search: In the trademark registration process, the first step is the self-examination stage, that is, before submitting the application, first use the Internet to conduct a trademark search. Find out whether the trademarks are duplicated or similar. This can improve the success rate of trademark registration to a certain extent.

2. Submit the documents for review: After submitting the documents, you will receive a receipt, and then the trademark will proceed to the acceptance review stage. Strict inquiries will be made on the legality and duplication of trademarks. For trademarks that fail the examination, the reasons for rejection will be informed in writing. Trademarks that pass the review will enter the announcement period.

3. Trademark Notice: After review, if the examiner believes that the trademark application can be accepted, an announcement will be published on the official Trademark Notice. The objection period is 3 months from the date of announcement.

4. Registration approval: After going through the above process, the trademark will be approved for registration. The registration certificate will be issued after some time. Generally, if the application goes smoothly, it will take about 12-18 months to obtain the trademark.

5. Later maintenance: A trademark has a 10-year period of use after registration and needs to apply for renewal one year in advance. If no renewal is submitted during the extension period (6 months) after the expiration of the trademark, the trademark will be revoked.
