What is the trademark registration process in Thailand? How are fees paid?

Thailand naturally also has Thailand’s Trademark Law. Thailand’s Trademark Law was officially promulgated in October 1991 and came into effect in February 1992. In other words, when registering a trademark in Thailand, you must follow Thailand’s trademark law. Registering a trademark in Thailand also requires paying corresponding fees. If the registered trademarks are of the same type and there are no more than 5 trademarks, the fee for each trademark during registration is 1,000 baht. If the trademark you register is in the same type, but the number of trademarks exceeds 5, the fee at this time is 9,000 baht. If you want to pay these fees, you naturally have to go to the Trademark Registration Office in Thailand to pay them.

In addition, registering a trademark in Thailand also requires preparing corresponding materials. First, we need to draft the name of our trademark and the pattern of the trademark, and also prepare a detailed description of the product. Then we need to prepare the application form and the applicant’s details and detailed address. If you are applying for registration in the name of an individual, then we also need to provide your ID card and passport. If you are applying for registration in the name of a company, then we need to provide a copy of the company's business license.

The process of applying for trademark registration in Thailand is relatively simple. The first step is to conduct a trademark search, which takes about two days to complete. The next step is to formally apply, usually within a month. Afterwards, the Trademark Registration Office will decide whether to accept the application, and will usually inform us within two months whether it will accept the application. If it can be accepted, it will enter the review and announcement period. The review and announcement period is about three months. After the review and announcement period, the certificate can be approved.

When we get the acceptance notice, it means that we can use this trademark. Under normal circumstances, if you register a trademark in Thailand, it will take about 8 months to get the official trademark registration notice.
