Steyr Company decided to develop two kinds of large-caliber sniper rifles, one is the conventional 12.7mm caliber, and the other is the unconventional large-caliber sniper rifle. Through research, Steyr Company finally launched an original .46-inch caliber bullet, whose ballistic performance is better than the conventional 12.7 mm. This original caliber enriches the choice of large-caliber sniper rifles.

HS sniper rifle has no magazine. When the shooter needs to load the gun, he only needs to pull the pull handle up by 9 degrees, then pull the pull handle back to open the chamber and put the bullet directly into the chamber, then push the pull handle forward and pull the pull handle down by 9 degrees to lock the bolt, thus completing the loading process. The absence of magazine also simplifies the structural design and helps to improve the reliability of weapons.

Compared with .5 inch BMG(12.7mm) bullet, this .46 inch Steyr bullet has better ballistic performance.
