In Showa 9 (1934), mass production of automobiles began based on the standard model of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (now the Ministry of International Trade and Industry), and the trademark "Isuzu" was named after the Isuzu River next to Ise Jingu Shrine. After the trademark and company name were unified in Showa 24 (1949), the company name "Isuzu Motors Co., Ltd." has been used ever since. As a symbol of international development, the company logo uses the Roman letters "ISUZU" through a modern design. In December 2018, the World Brand Laboratory released the "Top 500 World Brands 2018" list, with Isuzu ranked 420th.
