Liquor has no shelf life.
According to the relevant national regulations on trademark labeling, beverages with an alcohol content greater than 10 are exempt from labeling the shelf life. Because the alcohol content exceeds 10, it is difficult for normal fungi to survive in this environment, so there is no need to mark the shelf life. It can be seen that as long as the alcohol content of liquor is greater than 10 degrees, it has no shelf life and can be stored for a long time.
However, long-term storage of low-alcohol pure grain wine is not recommended. This is because acid esters are soluble in alcohol but not in water. Although it is pure grain wine, the content of acid esters in low-alcohol liquor (low alcohol concentration) is relatively small, and the "aromatic reaction" effect is not obvious. In addition, long-term storage can easily cause the alcohol to evaporate and the alcohol content to decrease. The taste will become worse if stored for a longer period of time. The best drinking period is within 3 years.
Although liquor does not have a shelf life, it does not mean that the ingredients of liquor itself will not change. After low-alcohol liquor and light-flavor liquor below 40 degrees are stored for a period of time, ester substances will usually be hydrolyzed, resulting in a bland taste, and some may have astringent taste. But this process takes a long time, usually five or six years, and the taste only becomes lighter, so it is not a quality problem.
Among the various aroma types of liquor, Maotai-flavor liquor is the most durable for storage because its components are relatively stable once formed. But it is not absolute. Sometimes due to the container, the alcohol will disperse and the taste will become weak.
When storing leftover liquor, the bottle mouth must be sealed tightly. You can wrap the bottle mouth tightly with plastic wrap or a plastic bag. If it still feels loose, melt the wax and drop it on the mouth of the bottle. Liquor can be stored in a dry, clean, well-ventilated place, but avoid direct sunlight. In addition, it is also important to save the remaining liquor containers. You should try to choose glass bottles for storage.
