SD doll is a ball-jointed doll produced by the Japanese company Volks and is a famous brand of BJD dolls (Note 1). SD is the abbreviation of English Super Dollife. It is also the registered trademark of Volks Company in the field of BJD dolls.
Every real SD doll will have a golden head card with the SD logo on the back of the head. If it is a limited edition, it will indicate the limited date and limited number of games. At the bottom of the top sign is the words "Made in Japan". If it is a limited One Off version, it will be specially noted on the top card! Of course, there are special circumstances, that is, the doll heads in the classroom series (Note 2) produced by Volks do not have the top card.
In fact, other brands of BJD dolls will basically have such a brand on the back of the head. The first card is like a doll's ID card. Therefore, if you are interested when you see a similar doll next time, you can politely ask the owner of the doll to help you take off the wig of the doll and show you the top card, so that you will not make a mistake!
So only the BJD dolls produced by Volks can be called SD dolls. BJD dolls of other brands have their own brands and names. I hope everyone will stop calling those cute dolls SD dolls. !
Note 1: BJD doll means ball-jointed doll.
Note 2: Volks’ classroom series are doll heads used in courses on BJD dolls offered by Volks and specially sold.
