The word Balang comes from the Uighur word Bala, which means "brother". In Xinjiang, Balangzi is used to address young, promising and hospitable men. Balangzi's unique personality, to a great extent, stems from Xinjiang's diverse cultural background.

Xinjiang has a vast territory and a large number of ethnic groups, and the cultural blending between ethnic groups has nurtured rich and colorful folk customs for this land. Growing up in such an environment, Balangzi naturally developed a cheerful, enthusiastic and tolerant character, and this group interpreted the unique charm of Xinjiang with their own actions.
