Results of Shanghai Insulated Container Quality Supervision and Spot Inspection in the Second Quarter of 2009

Insulated containers are generally made of a vacuumed double-walled liner and an outer shell. Depending on the material, They are divided into two types: glass insulated containers and stainless steel vacuum insulated containers. The common ones in the former include thermos bottles, insulated lunch boxes, glass-lined insulated cups, etc., while the latter are mainly stainless steel insulated cups.

In the second quarter of 2009, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision conducted special supervision and random inspections on the quality of the above-mentioned thermal insulation container products produced and sold in this city. This time, 60 batches of thermal insulation container products were randomly inspected. After inspection, 30 batches were qualified and 30 batches were unqualified. Among them, 23 batches of glass thermal insulation containers were randomly inspected, and after inspection, 13 batches were qualified and 10 batches were unqualified; 37 batches of stainless steel vacuum insulation containers were randomly inspected, and after inspection, 17 batches were qualified and 20 batches were unqualified. Among these 60 batches of products, 27 batches of products produced by manufacturers registered in Shanghai were inspected, 12 batches were qualified, and 15 batches were unqualified; 26 batches of products produced by companies registered in other provinces and cities were inspected, and 14 batches were qualified. Among the batches, 12 batches were unqualified; 7 batches of imported products were inspected, 4 batches were qualified and 3 batches were unqualified.

This random inspection is based on GB/T 11416-2002 "Daily Insulated Containers", QB/T 2332-1997 "Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Containers", GB 9684-1988 "Hygienic Standards for Stainless Steel Tableware Containers", GB/T11681-1989 "Analysis Methods for Hygienic Standards for Stainless Steel Food Containers", which analyzes the thermal insulation performance, odor, impact resistance, capacity, pouring test, connection fastness of handles and lifting rings, hot water leakage, and assembly safety of glass insulated containers The performance and marking items of the stainless steel vacuum insulated container were inspected, including the insulation efficiency, capacity, impact resistance, odor resistance of the stainless steel vacuum insulated container, hot water resistance of the rubber parts, installation fastness and sealing of the handle, and the hygiene requirements of the stainless steel liner (lead, cadmium ), the assembly fit of the bottle stopper and the marking items were inspected. The main quality issues discovered during this spot check were thermal insulation performance, capacity, hot water leakage, impact resistance and labeling items that did not meet requirements.

Thermal insulation efficiency: Thermal insulation efficiency is the core indicator of the thermal insulation container. During this random inspection, 13 batches of products did not meet the requirements for this project.

Capacity: On the one hand, the capacity of the thermal insulation container is related to the ability to hold enough items, and on the other hand, it is directly related to the insulation temperature. That is, for the same diameter, the larger the capacity, the higher the insulation temperature required. Therefore, both the positive and negative deviations of the capacity of the thermal insulation container cannot be too large. In this spot check, 19 products with capacity items did not meet the requirements (including unmarked capacity).

Hot water leakage: This project involves safety and affects the aesthetics of the environment. When the problem of this project is serious, as long as the thermos bottle filled with water is lifted, hot water will leak out between the bottle bladder and the bottle shell. The amount will burn the user. Even a small amount will leak out and leave water marks on the table and floor, affecting the environment. Beautiful. During this random inspection, 4 batches of products did not meet the requirements for this project.

Impact resistance: This item is related to the service life of the product. During the use of the product, bumps and bumps are inevitable. If the material used in the product accessories has poor shock absorption or the accuracy of the accessories is not enough, there will be a gap between the bottle bladder and the shell. Shaking and bumps during use may cause stones. Displacement of the cotton pads and cracks in the small tails will affect the thermal insulation performance of the product. In serious cases, it will also cause cracks or even breakage of the bottle bladder. During this random inspection, 4 batches of products did not meet the requirements for this project.

Logo: National standards stipulate that: product name, capacity, caliber, manufacturer name and address, adopted standard number, usage method and precautions during use, etc. must be clearly marked. In this random inspection, 5 batches of products were judged to be unqualified due to unspecified capacity. There are also some product labels that are not standardized and need to be corrected.

Tips for selecting thermal insulation containers

Insulation products are divided into glass vacuum thermal insulation containers and stainless steel vacuum thermal insulation containers in terms of materials. There are two types. The former are common thermos bottles, insulated lunch boxes, glass-lined thermos cups, etc., while the latter are mainly stainless steel thermos cups. Regardless of small-mouth, large-mouth, portable, or table-top models, the purchasing methods are similar, and specific products may be slightly modified according to specific circumstances. Now let’s give a brief introduction to the selection of stainless steel thermos cups and glass thermos bottles.

The following identification methods can be used for stainless steel thermos cups:

(1) Simple identification method of thermal insulation performance: Pour boiling water into the thermos cup and tighten the stopper or lid clockwise 2 - After 3 minutes, touch the outer surface of the cup body with your hand. If the cup (pot) body is obviously warm, especially the lower part of the cup body, it means that the product has lost its vacuum and cannot achieve good heat preservation effect. (2) Sealing performance identification method: After adding water to the cup (pot), tighten the bottle stopper or cup lid clockwise, and place the cup (pot) flat on the table. There should be no water seeping out. ; The screwing in and out of the cup (pot) lid and cup mouth should be flexible and there should be no gaps. Fill a cup of water and turn it upside down for four or five minutes, or shake it vigorously a few times to verify whether there is water leakage.

(3) How to identify plastic accessories: Features of new food-grade plastics: low odor, bright surface, no burrs, long service life and not easy to age. The characteristics of ordinary plastics or recycled plastics: strong smell, dark color, many burrs, and plastics are easy to age and break. This will not only affect the service life, but also affect drinking water hygiene.

(4) Simple capacity identification method: the depth of the inner tank is basically the same as the height of the outer shell, (the difference is 16-18mm) and the capacity is consistent with the nominal value. In order to cut corners, some domestic brands make up for the lack of materials. For weight, add sand and cement blocks to the cup (pot). Misunderstanding: A heavier cup (pot) does not necessarily mean a better cup.

(5) Simple identification method of stainless steel materials: There are many specifications of stainless steel materials, among which 18/8 means that the stainless steel material contains 18 chromium and 8 nickel. Materials that meet this standard meet the national food grade standards and are green and environmentally friendly. Products, products are rust-proof and corrosion-resistant. Ordinary stainless steel cups (pots) are white or dark in color. If soaked in salt water with a concentration of 1 for 24 hours, rust spots will appear. (6) Cup appearance identification method. First, check whether the surface polishing of the inner and outer tanks is even and consistent, and whether there are bumps and scratches; second, check whether the mouth welding is smooth and consistent, which is related to whether the feeling of drinking water is comfortable; third, check whether the internal seal is tight and Check whether the screw plug matches the cup body; look at the mouth of the cup, the rounder the better.

(7) Check the label and other accessories of the cup. Check to see if the product's name, capacity, caliber, manufacturer's name and address, adopted standard number, usage method and precautions during use are marked. A manufacturer that attaches great importance to quality will strictly abide by relevant national standards and clearly indicate the performance of its products.

Customers should also pay attention when selecting products. They should not just look at the appearance, but also pay attention to whether the instructions are for thermal insulation products.

Nowadays, some products have novel and elegant appearance and are very similar to thermal insulation products, but they have no thermal insulation performance. For example, there is a "wonderful cup" with a grass-green cup body, exquisite shape, smooth lines, and comfortable hand feel. The product does not deceive consumers because the instructions clearly indicate that it can "warm hands in winter and not burn hands in summer." Consumers have only their own eyes to blame.

Precautions when using thermos cups (pots, bottles):
