If the subsequent designation application involves a pure agreement contracting party, it must be forwarded to the International Bureau through the Trademark Office; if it does not involve a pure agreement contracting party, Contracting Parties may submit their applications directly to the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization or by transmitting them to the International Bureau through the Trademark Office.
Contracting parties designated later must renew their internationally registered trademarks when they expire.
