Although the art of paper-cutting came from the people, it had become a national art in the Qing Dynasty, and even the royalty at that time could not do without paper-cutting. The Kunning Palace in the Forbidden City in Beijing was the wedding bridal chamber of the Qing emperor.

The window paper of the front and rear windows of the palace is pasted on the outside. The walls are papered, with black "Xi" paper-cut corner flowers at the four corners, and black dragon and phoenix flower paper-cut at the center of the ceiling. Paper-cuts are also posted on the walls of the aisles on both sides of the palace. Judging from the patterns, materials and colors of paper-cutting, compared with the ceiling flowers and wall flowers of ordinary farmers, there is basically no difference except that the paper-cutting pattern is slightly larger.
