The announcement of preliminary examination and approval of a trademark refers to the trademark announcement issued by the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce after careful and comprehensive examination, when it concludes that the trademark applied for registration basically conforms to the provisions of the Trademark Law.

The purposes of this announcement are: first, to solicit opinions from all walks of life, increase the transparency of trademark examination, and let the public, institutions and organizations supervise the trademarks approved by the Trademark Office in accordance with trademark laws and regulations, so as to facilitate accurate approval of trademark registration;

The second is to give the prior trademark registrant and the prior applicant an opportunity to safeguard their rights and interests, and avoid and reduce possible disputes after trademark registration.

The preliminary examination and approval of a trademark announcement is not a certificate for the trademark applicant to obtain the exclusive right to use the trademark he applied for registration, but a necessary procedure for obtaining the exclusive right to use the trademark. Three months after the announcement of preliminary examination and approval is the objection period. If the owner of a registered trademark thinks that a trademark in the announcement of preliminary examination and approval of a trademark is similar to the registered trademark he holds (he applies to the State Trademark Office for the trademark and holds a trademark registration certificate officially issued by the State Trademark Office), he may raise an objection.
