Yemen has passed a unified intellectual property law, Decree No.19 of 1994. This law abolished the trademarks and trade names of Decree No.45 of 1976 and the civil law of 1757-1927 which protected intellectual property rights. According to the decision of the Minister of Justice, starting from November 1995, the Trademark Registry in Aden officially handed over all applications, registrations and records related to trademarks, patents and designs to the Trademark Registry under the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Sana 'a. According to this decision, Sana 'a Trademark Registry will take over all applications.
