Is Kirin chip made in China?
0 1 Kirin chip is not 100% domestic chip, and its ARM architecture adopts foreign technology, but it is still our own brand chip.

Kirin chip is not a completely self-developed chip, and its key components are domestic and foreign, because as a mobile phone chip, it not only refers to CPU, but also includes GPU, baseband, DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and ISP.

The CPU of Kirin chip adopts the architecture of British ARM, and its own CPU is manufactured by TSMC's manufacturing process under the authorization of ARM. At present, Kirin's most advanced processor is 970, which has eight processing cores, four A73 architectures and four A53 architectures, all of which are authorized by ARM.

For Kirin chip, its whole manufacturing process is like this. ARM provides the core, then Huawei redesigns the architecture and communication baseband, and finally gives it to TSMC for production. Kirin chips can't be completely produced by Huawei, but some Kirin chips are still made in China.

So far, the OEM production of chips involves many factors, and there are only three companies in the world that can OEM production. They are TSMC, Samsung Electronics and Intel in Taiwan Province Province, China. However, Intel's technology is now completely behind the other two companies, resulting in only TSMC and Samsung competing. Huawei, Qualcomm and Apple have been asking TSMC to do their own OEM work.

Therefore, if we investigate too carefully, we will find that Kirin chip is not entirely made in China, but it is still our own brand chip and the only one at present.
