Recently, we discovered several recent documents from Toyota. Specifically, Toyota filed trademark applications for the TX350 and TX500h on September 8. We know this alphanumeric layout doesn't belong to Toyota itself, but to the automaker's premium brand, Lexus. We also know that the 350 and 500 also serve as different expressions of Lexus' power.

So what do these codenames mean for the future of automakers? This is a very good question. We know that NX sales in China have always been below average in this field. We also know that the larger and older GX is officially discontinued. Therefore, it is conceivable that the new TX model can replace some products, perhaps the TX can replace the GX.

First of all, we have heard that a new flagship LQ? SUV may join the market to replace or be above the LX. If we go back a few years, we also got an old report that Lexus was actually planning a GX replacement called the TX. In addition, the report also compared the TX's seven-seat integrated design with the GX's body structure. Considering that most Lexus luxury SUV owners are probably not interested in the rugged off-road advantages this structure offers, converting it into a regular three-row seat certainly makes sense.

At this point, this is all speculation. We've heard precious little from Lexus, and there haven't been any spy photos in over a year. The document was only filed with the North American Patent and Trademark Office, and perhaps there's always the possibility that Lexus aims to protect its TX brand trademark for future use.
