The history of Osram
1906 On April 7th, Gasgluhlicht-Anstalt (also known as Auer-Gesellschaft) registered the trademark "Osram". But official data show that Osram was born in 19 19. Because 13 years later, Gasgluhlicht-Anstalt in Germany registered the trademark "Osram", that is, 1 91day in July/9, Germany Gas Lamp Company, Germany General Electric Company and Siemens & Halske &; Halske AG) merged into a new company by integrating their respective incandescent lamp businesses. The full name of the company is Osram bulb company, headquartered in Munich, Germany, and now known as Osram. In short, in 1906, OSRAM only existed as a trademark, but in 19 19, it officially entered the lighting stage as the name of the company.

Development of Osram

1976, GE began to sell part of osram shares to Siemens. Two years later, 1978, Siemens finally completed the acquisition of all the shares of GE in OSRAM and became the sole shareholder of OSRAM. At this point, OSRAM has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens.

Osram once owned the world's largest light bulb factory in history, and the output of light bulbs at that time accounted for about one-third of the global light bulb production. Some people even use "Osram is a light bulb manufacturer" to summarize the history of Osram. In fact, before it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens, this sentence was indeed true. However, with the intervention of Siemens, OSRAM is active in domestic lighting, automobile lighting and other markets with its stable quality, excellent performance and innovative technology. Therefore, the phrase "Osram is a light bulb manufacturer" can only summarize its history before the 1980s.

1980, osram introduced QUICKTRONIC electronic ballast, which provided conditions for more stable lighting. This electronic ballast can not only reduce the power of fluorescent lamps by 25% and prolong their life by 50%, but also effectively reduce the stroboscopic and noise of lamps. 1985, the world's first energy-saving lamp with integrated electronic ballast and energy-saving lamp was born in OSRAM, which rewrote the process of commercialization of energy-saving lamps and made it possible to popularize energy-saving lamps in families. Today, the service life of DULUXSTAR series energy-saving lamps of OSRAM has exceeded 65,438+00 years, and the power consumption is 80% lower than that of ordinary incandescent lamps. With innovative technology, OSRAM continues to contribute to energy conservation and environmental protection.

Not only in the domestic lighting market, but also in the automotive lighting market, OSRAM has always maintained a leading position. As early as 1925, OSRAM introduced the BILUX dual filament car headlights which can provide both high beam and low beam. 199 1 year, osram achieved a leap in automobile lighting quality with HID lamps. According to the survey of 1997, 52 million cars were produced in the world that year, of which 26 million cars used the light source imported by OSRAM. Today, with its advantages in LED light source, OSRAM still maintains a high market share in the automotive lighting market and has been recognized by many automobile manufacturers.

With the global energy problem becoming more and more serious, many countries and regions prohibit the use or elimination of incandescent lamps. Even though OSRAM introduced energy-saving lamps in the 1980s, it was still troubled by this series of problems. There is only one way out-developing a light source that is more energy-saving and environmentally friendly than incandescent lamps and energy-saving lamps. For OSRAM, this not only conforms to the trend of energy conservation and environmental protection, but also sees the huge business opportunities behind it. Therefore, Osram actively engaged in the development of a new generation of light sources, and became one of the first companies to launch white LED light sources in the late 1990s.

Osram's LED light source products have been developed into many series such as automobiles, signals and buildings. In fiscal year 2007, among the global sales of 4.7 billion euros, the sales of LED light sources reached 520 million euros, accounting for 1 1% of the total sales.

Osram's Internationalization Route

Although OSRAM was originally a German company, and faced with the competition from American General Electric and other peers in the market, it set its sights on the world from the beginning. As early as a few years after the establishment of the company, apart from all over Europe, Osram also set up sales offices in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Shanghai, China, responsible for the business in South America and Asia respectively. After 100 years' development, even though OSRAM has become one of the three major lighting solution providers together with Philips General Electric, it still adheres to the internationalization route-OSRAM's global layout covers 53 production bases in 19 countries, with customers in nearly 150 countries and regions and more than 40,000 employees. 1995, Osram re-entered China through its shareholding in Foshan Lighting. We set up production bases in Guangzhou, Foshan and Kunshan respectively, and set up a research and development center in Shenzhen in 2008, with nearly 40 sales offices in China and nearly 8,000 employees in China. Today, OSRAM China has become the R&D and production center in the Asia-Pacific region and plays an important role in OSRAM's global strategy.
