The magnesium rods in the electric water heater are all connected with the sewage outlet, so you can unscrew the screw of the sewage outlet and take out the broken magnesium rods with thin steel wires.
The function of magnesium rod in water heater is to sacrifice itself to alleviate the corrosion of inner container; Both iron and magnesium can be dissolved in water, but magnesium has more positive charge than iron and is more likely to become magnesium ion (Mg2+), that is, magnesium is dissolved in water first because of its more active metallic properties. At this time, magnesium is separated from the magnesium rod and combined with oxygen, and the corrosion process is over. In other words, the magnesium rod is corroded and the inner container is intact. Therefore, it is normal for the magnesium rod of the water heater to break, which belongs to consumables. If it is broken, replace it with a new one.
After replacing the new magnesium rod, it is best to replace the original screw and gasket together to prevent water leakage from the sewage outlet.
note:
When replacing, the power supply must be cut off to prevent electric shock.
