QS is the food safety mark. QS is the abbreviation of "Quality Safety" in English. The function of the QS mark is to indicate the level of product quality and to be a quality and reputation mark for physical products. The QS mark affixed to the outer packaging of the product represents the express guarantee made by the production and processing enterprise for the products it produces.
The QS system is the food quality and safety market access system. It was launched by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in 2002. All food production enterprises that enter the scope of this system must obtain a food production certification certificate and register it at the sales unit. Only products with the QS logo are allowed to enter the market.
QS mainly includes three contents:
(1) Implement a production license system for food production enterprises
For production companies that have the necessary requirements to ensure food quality and safety Enterprises that meet certain conditions and can ensure food quality and safety are issued a food production license and are allowed to produce products within the scope of the certificate; enterprises that have not obtained a food production license are not allowed to produce related foods.
(2) Implementing a compulsory inspection system for food produced by enterprises
Requires enterprises to fulfill their legal obligations. Food that has not been inspected or failed to pass the inspection is not allowed to leave the factory for sale. Production enterprises that do not have the conditions for self-inspection must implement entrusted inspection.
(3) Implement a quality and safety market access marking system for foods subject to the food production licensing system
Market access markings must be printed (pasted) on foods that have passed the inspection—— QS mark, food without QS mark is not allowed to leave the factory for sale.
