What are the state’s regulations to encourage cattle raising?

1. Scope of subsidies for raising cattle: breeding cows for meat. Currently, subsidies are only implemented in 10 major beef cattle-producing provinces (regions) including Henan, Sichuan, Jilin, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Gansu, Yunnan, Liaoning, and Ningxia.

2. Cattle-raising subsidy targets: Beef cattle farms (communities, households) in the project area that use improved semen for artificial insemination.

3. Cattle-raising subsidy standards: Subsidy for improved beef cattle breeds: Two doses of frozen semen are used per year for each fertile beef cattle, with a subsidy of 5 yuan per dose.

4. Subsidy cattle breeds: Beef cattle breeds introduced and independently bred approved by the state, as well as excellent local breeds. 5. Cattle-raising subsidy procedure: The Ministry of Agriculture organizes experts to select breeding bulls, determine the frozen semen production unit, and publish technical indicators such as the number and production performance of the selected breeding bulls. Provincial animal husbandry and finance departments organize project counties to conduct centralized bidding and procurement, and the procurement contracts are reported to the Ministry of Agriculture for record. The provincial financial department settles with the breeding bull station based on the purchase contract, sales invoice and frozen semen storage receipt provided by the county-level animal husbandry department. The sperm donor unit provides semen to farmers at a preferential price after subsidies.

Supported breeds mainly include introduced breeds such as Simmental, Charolais and Limousin, as well as local cattle, buffalo and yak, as well as Xia Nan cattle and other nationally approved breeds.
