Laoyi Well in Yumen Oilfield refers to the No.1 1 oil well first drilled by Gansu Petroleum Preparation Office in laojunmiao, which is located on the west side of laojunmiao Gate in Nanping Street, Yumen City.
1939, petroleum geologist Sun Jian politician Chu and others determined the well location at15m north of the original site of laojunmiao, and the first oil well was drilled manually, with a daily output of10t, which opened the prelude to the development of Yumen Oilfield. 1962, oil is exhausted and production is stopped. This well has produced 845.9 tons of crude oil and 7.73 thousand cubic meters of natural gas in 23 years. 1989, on the eve of the 50th anniversary of Yumen Oil Mine, laojunmiao Oil Mine installed pumping units on the original site, set up protective fences and erected a monument.
Laoyi Well in Yumen Oilfield is the first oil well drilled by oil workers in China, the cradle of modern petroleum industry in China, and it has made contributions to War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in China, occupying an important position in the development history of modern petroleum industry in China, with high historical and scientific value.
May 20th/kloc-3rd, Laoyijing in Yumen Oilfield was listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Laojun Town: Yumen laojunmiao is the birthplace of oil in China. On August 1939, the first oil well in China produced oil here. Since then, China has lost the label of "oil-free country".
