MG is a British car brand, also known as MG in China. It was founded in 1924 and today, it has become a part of SAIC Motor Corporation. The founder of MG is William Morris, an autonomous driving repairman who started out with just 4 pounds. He established Morris Auto Repair Shop in 1910 and began selling automobiles. Ten years later, the company began to develop cars, and MG also began to transform into the field of automobile manufacturing. In 1920, MG produced its first car. In 1924, MG launched its first car (based on the Morris car). In the same year, Englishman Cecil Kimber founded the Morris Garage Automobile Factory, and the abbreviation MG became the brand's trademark. On July 22, 2005, Nanjing Automobile Group Co., Ltd. successfully acquired MG Rover and its engine production division. In April 2007, SAIC Motor fully acquired Nanjing Automobile Group and became the new owner of the MG brand. MG's LOGO is based on an octagon, which is inspired by the shape of European church domes. It exudes noble traditional temperament and spirituality, indicating firmness, stability and great tension. It is widely believed that the octagon symbolizes passion and loyalty.
