Group History
Berthold Kempinski was born in Posen on October 1th, 1843 (formerly a province of Prussia, now). He is one of the two boys in the family. In 1862, his brother opened a special restaurant in Breslau and Posen called M. Kempinski &; Co Berthold joined two years later. They worked hard to start a business together. Ten years later, in 1872, Berthold and his wife Helene moved to Berlin and opened a restaurant with the same name, which soon developed into a restaurant with rooms.
Berthold is ambitious. When he sees the success of his new career, he thinks of further development. He found a suitable place. In 1889, he opened a restaurant with several restaurants in Leipziger Strasse-the largest restaurant in Berlin at that time.
As Berthold and Helena have no sons, Richard Unger, the husband of their daughter Frida, joined the small company. Facts have proved that Richard is smart and has played an important role in the company's continued success. In 1897, Hotel Betriebs-Aktiengesellschaft Hotel Management Company was established, which is the historic starting point of Kempinski Hotel today.
Berthold retired when he realized that his son-in-law could run the company independently, and Richard took charge of the company from now on, but the company name remained unchanged. Berthold Kempinski died on March 14th, 191, thus retiring from the stage of history.
until the first world war, Richard, who owned the company, successfully established a huge industrial complex around his food industry. Business operation was smooth during World War I, and Richard bought his own production center after the war. Later, because Kurfürstendamm Street became more and more famous, Richard bought and operated a restaurant at Ku'damm 27 (Kempinski Bristol Hotel still stands proudly here today). ) In 1928, M. Kempinski &; Co. also took over Haus Vaterland in Potsdamer Square and put forward a sensational new concept-entertainment food-which can be said to be unheard of in Berlin.
after success, tragedy followed. In 1937, Richard Unger and his family moved to the United States to escape the war. Unfortunately, the restaurant in Kurfürstendamm 27 was burnt down in a fire shortly after the war, and Richard Unger's other property was also completely destroyed.
However, the name Kempinski is destined to have a long history. After the war, Dr. Friedrich W. Unger, the grandson of ——Berthold and the son of Richard Unger, returned to Germany. In 1951, he began to build a hotel directly in the ruins of the original restaurant, Kurfürstendamm 27. A year later, Kempinski Hotel opened and became the most modern and popular hotel at that time. Kempinski Hotel is the first five-star hotel in Berlin and is world-famous for its series of innovations. Building an indoor swimming pool is an example.
in p>1953, Dr. Friedrich W. Unger sold his shares in the company to Hotel Betriebs-Aktien Gesellschaft, which had previously operated Bristol and Kaiserhof hotels. The name of Bristol was accepted and used in the hotel at Ku'damm 27, which is the origin of the name of Kempinski Hotel Bristol today. Kempinski Bristol Hotel is the first industry of this global hotel group. In 197, Hotel Betriebs-Aktiengesellschaft changed its name to Kempinski Hotel Betriebs-Aktiengesellschaft. Since 1977, the company has changed its name to Kempinski A.G In August 22, in AGM, Munich, Kempinski AG's largest shareholder (holding 98.2%) passed a resolution to purchase the remaining 1.8% of the company's shares in accordance with the provisions of the new German company law on the management of minority shares.
over the years, the company has achieved other remarkable milestone successes in Germany. In 1957, the Atlantic Hotel in Hamburg, also known as "White Castle", was completed on the shores of Ulster Lake. In 197, it owned 5% of the shares of the Vier Jahreszeiten Hotel in Munich, and the hotel established a long-term cooperative relationship with Lufthansa, which is also a shareholder of the hotel. In 1977, the Gravenbruch Hotel near Frankfurt joined the group.
In p>1985, Lufthansa bought the shares of Kempinski, which enabled the traditional German hotel groups to operate hotels overseas. Kempinski Hotel S.A was founded by Kempinski, Lufthansa and Rolaco S.A The company is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Its mission is still to expand the group around the world, and to keep characteristic hotel or personalized hotels with a long history or extremely new style.

historical background
American entrepreneur Kemmons? On a family vacation, Kemmons Wilson felt that the hotel he stayed in lacked the service of being at home and the fees were too high, so he opened the first holiday hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, USA in 1952.
The hotel has a swimming pool, air-conditioning equipment and a restaurant, as well as basic facilities such as telephone, ice cubes and free parking, while children can stay in their parents' rooms for free. Now, these facilities can only be regarded as ordinary facilities. At that time, they set off a revolution in the hotel industry, and thus formed a set of hotel industry standards, which were not only adopted by every holiday hotel, but also led the development process of the global hotel industry.
Mr p>Wilson later became a pioneer in chain operation. He took advantage of the opportunity when the interstate highway system in the United States extended to the whole country, and opened hotels along the way, which quickly expanded the network of holiday hotels. After its success in the United States, Holiday Inn quickly attracted the interest of European and Asian investors, and then developed into the largest single hotel brand in the world. Nowadays, the brand of Holiday Inn can be seen everywhere in the world.
