Trademark typo
The "typo" in BYD logo is disdainful in the calligraphy circle, but fans are happy to accept it.

Although most domestic automobile brands started late, it is very popular to change logo among domestic automobile brands. I have changed the logo of each brand many times. After all, at the beginning, the domestic logo was generally more casual. With the increasing aesthetic demand of consumers, changing logo has become a fashion. Typical is BYD. As early as the 1990s, BYD was actually just a battery manufacturer. Then in 2003, BYD officially started to build cars. At that time, it already had a blue and white logo, and there were three letters BYD below, which were imitated by many fans.

Later, BYD Auto constantly listened to various suggestions from fans, and after giving up the blue and white logo, it designed a brand-new BYD logo. But this logo doesn't seem pleasing, and it is still a hot topic among fans in China. So how can we please the aesthetic needs of consumers in China? BYD Auto really put a lot of thought into it. Now BYD's brand-new models have begun to adopt the new logo of Dynasty series. Same model, different dynasty names. What's even cooler is that each series has its own Chinese logo.

After years of painstaking efforts, BYD Qin, Tang, Song and Yuan series have basically taken shape. The names of these dynasties are really cool after being made into car logos by calligraphy and seal script, and there seems to be nothing wrong with them. However, this year, BYD Auto launched a brand-new BYD Han, and the Chinese logo of this car encountered some controversy. BYD's team of designers still adopted the usual practice and designed a Chinese seal logo for BYD Han. At first glance, there is nothing wrong with it, but if you look closely, you will find that there is something wrong with this Chinese logo.

The word "Han" is special because the traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters look completely different, which is very different from the previous Qin, Tang, Song and Yuan dynasties. If we look at BYD Han's brand-new logo according to the standard of traditional calligraphy, the word obviously belongs to the typo category, because the three water dots on the left use the traditional Chinese characters of seal script, while the structure on the right uses the simplified Chinese characters. If this combination appears in calligraphy, it may make people laugh, so many people in the calligraphy circle despise BYD Han's brand-new seal script logo.

However, for this "typo" logo, domestic fans are still happy to accept it. Perhaps BYD's designer team is not ignorant of the mistakes in calligraphy structure, but there are more reasons leading to the final design draft. First of all, if a single Chinese character is used as a trademark and the font is too standard, it will not pass the examination. Therefore, BYD Han's illegal logo only declares trademarks according to graphics. To put it bluntly, it is essentially a pattern rather than a text. Strictly speaking, it only draws on the artistic sense of traditional calligraphy, not real calligraphy.

In addition, if BYD Korea's new car logo adopts traditional Chinese characters, the structure will be more complicated, which will not only increase the difficulty of production, but also further reduce the recognition of the whole car, because the overly complicated logo is not easy to remember, and the commonly used Chinese characters are simplified Chinese characters. If you really use traditional Chinese characters, many people may be confused, but the Chinese characters you used to know will turn out to be unknown, which is obviously not suitable as BYD's product trademark.

So to sum up, the Chinese logo of BYD Dynasty series models is just a commercial label. From the perspective of calligraphy, BYD logo is obviously a bit harsh. Speaking of it, the most important thing is product strength. The configuration of BYD Han is high enough. I believe that most consumers buy cars mainly because of the configuration, not because of the logo.

Here comes the problem. Do you think BYD Han's logo is a mistake? Welcome to leave a message in the discussion area, let's discuss it together!
