Micro Vault Virtual Expander was originally designed as a compression software for Micro Vault. This software is preinstalled in Micro Vault. When using Micro Vault Virtual Expander, simply drag and drop files into Micro Vault to compress them, allowing you to fully utilize capacity.
---NOTE ---
* The Virtual Expander application will only run on Micro Vaults that have it pre-installed at the time of purchase.
* Do not rename the VirtualExpander.exe or Decompression.exe files. Otherwise, the software may not start correctly.
* The Decompression.exe application can be used in computing environments other than Micro Vault drives.
* Micro Vault Virtual Expander is available under Windows 2000 Professional (SP3 and later) and Windows XP Home/Professional (SP1 and later) systems.
* Administrator rights are required when using Micro Vault Virtual Expander.
* If you selected "No" to the question "Do you want Virtual Expander to be activated every time your computer starts (recommended)?" after you restart your computer, put it into standby mode, or log off , you must double-click the Virtual Expander.exe icon to restart the application.
* Only Virtual Expander and Decompression applications can open Virtual Expander compressed files. Please open them after unzipping or use Microsoft Explorer to open them.
* When this application is closed, the file extension may appear as the Micro Vault Virtual Expander compressed file extension (*.vem). This is normal and not a computer problem.
* Already compressed files and files 2KB or smaller will not change when saved, i.e. will not be compressed. Virtual Expander does not compress the following types of files because the compressed files may be used on music/video players that do not allow the playback of compressed files, or the file size may be slightly increased due to the original type of the file. mpg/mp4/wmv/mp3/wma/jpg/zip/lzh
* When opening a compressed file from a Micro Vault drive, the file is opened after its uncompressed version is saved to the Micro Vault drive. At the same time, the original compressed files will be deleted. Note that files are not automatically compressed when you close them after use. If you wish to recompress the file, right-click the file icon and select Compress.
* When saving files directly from an application to Micro Vault, the files may not compress correctly depending on the application. In this case, save the file to the PC before copying it to Micro Vault; alternatively, temporarily stop the Micro Vault Virtual Expander function before saving to Micro Vault.
* When moving a large number of files at the same time, occasionally some files will not be compressed. In this case, perform compression in two ways: right-click and select Manual Compression; right-click on the taskbar tray and select "Compress All Files".
* Occasionally, the file display in Explorer may not update. In this case, manually refresh the display in Explorer.
* Sometimes the file size may increase slightly when compressed. The Micro Vault Virtual Expander application adds some information to the header of the compressed file. Some file types do not change much in file content size after compression, so when additional file headers are added, the file size will increase slightly.
* The compression icon will not be displayed after file types such as exe are compressed. However, this feature is available.
* Virtual expander will perform compression via a software program. Automatic compression processing time varies depending on your hardware and operating system environment, which may result in differences in transfer speeds.
