Gulouzi Township, Kuandian County, is the first township in Dandong to produce chestnuts. Through continuous efforts, the township has established a chestnut planting and processing industry chain. In terms of planting, we strive to guide farmers to graft improved seeds, provide chestnut farmers with a full range of technical services, improve the quality of chestnuts, and get out of the strange circle of increased chestnut production in the past, but farmers' incomes did not increase. At the same time, in order to relieve farmers' worries about selling chestnuts, the township has vigorously attracted investment and completed the second phase expansion project of the Japanese chestnut factory. The raw chestnut processing capacity can reach 2,000 tons, achieving an output value of 15 million yuan and a profit and tax of 1.5 million yuan. A complete industrial structure with raw materials on the mountain and factories at the foot of the mountain has been formed, making the chestnut industry in Gulouzi Township bigger and stronger, achieving an increase in farmers' income and financial growth. Chestnut production in Gulouzi Township has a history of hundreds of years and is the birthplace of Dandong chestnut. In 1998, Gulouzi Township was awarded the title of "No. 1 Chestnut Production Township" by the Dandong Municipal People's Government. In the spring of 1964, the Kuandian County Chestnut Experimental Station was established in Lizigou Village, Gulouzi Township. Subsequently, the township government also established a dry and fresh fruit technical service station to provide technical guidance for chestnut production in the township, select and breed excellent varieties, and implement production, supply and marketing. One-stop service. In 2002, the Dried and Fresh Fruit Technical Service Station merged with the Township Government Forestry Station.
Beginning in 1998, Jiang Shibao, deputy head of industry in Gulouzi Township, conducted research on the domestic and foreign chestnut sales markets. After repeated verification, he concluded that to develop chestnut production, raw chestnuts must be sold in the domestic market. As soon as possible, we should change to the conclusion that chestnut products are mainly sold through deep processing, do a good job in deep processing of chestnuts, and develop excellent varieties suitable for processing and export. The Gulouzi Township Party Committee and Government have demonstrated through many outings that Japanese chestnuts are not only large in size and high in yield, but also taste good, have a wide market, and are also suitable for the climate conditions of Gulouzi. In the autumn of 1999, the Gulouzi Township Party Committee and Government proposed a beheading revolution for existing chestnut trees, striving to replace all large and inferior chestnut trees in the township within three to five years to improve superior varieties. From 2000 to 2005, *** raised more than 1.3 million yuan in funds, introduced more than 10 excellent varieties such as Danze, Jinhua, Dafeng, and Izumo, purchased 5 million high-quality scions, and provided them to fruit farmers for free. Chestnuts are grafted. From 2005 to 2007, the Provincial Forestry Department Technology Promotion Station and the Dandong City Forestry Branch jointly established 9 chestnut demonstration gardens in Gulouzi Township, including 3 chestnut large tree transformation gardens, 3 chestnut dwarf dense planting high-yield gardens, Comparison of high-quality chestnut grafting varieties, and scientific and standardized management of 3 gardens. The establishment of 9 demonstration gardens has achieved obvious effects of increasing production, income and efficiency, and has been recognized by provincial and municipal experts. Its varieties and management models were awarded the first prize of the "Agricultural Science and Technology Achievements Promotion Award" by the Dandong Municipal Government. And it has been widely promoted throughout the city, which has also greatly guided the promotion process of new chestnut varieties. After several years of development, chestnuts in Gulouzi Township have developed from a single low-yielding variety to a high-quality, high-yielding, and efficient variety; from extensive management to scientific and standardized management; from rough processing to refined, Deep processing. The annual sales and product efficiency are greatly improved. As of 2010, the chestnut area in the township has grown to 45,000 acres, with 1.5 million plants, with an annual output of more than 6,000 tons of chestnuts and an output value of more than 30 million yuan. It has become one of the main pillar industries that enriches the people of the township. Gulouzi Township has fertile soil and a warm and humid climate, which is very suitable for the growth of various vegetables. Since the early 1980s, greenhouse vegetables have been developed in Gulouzi area. From the construction of the first solar greenhouse in the county to now, the vegetable greenhouses in the township have reached a certain scale. In order to promote the development of the vegetable industry and make Gulouzi Township become a commercial vegetable supply base in Dandong City as soon as possible, Gulouzi Township adopts the idea of ????developing the Yalu River Basin in a zonal manner to build it into a high-efficiency key vegetable industry area. In 2002, Group 9 of Dapu Shihe Village built a vegetable greenhouse community with the highest standards in the township—61 high-standard heating and cooling sheds. By 2010, the township will have a production scale of 1,200 acres of bare-land vegetables, 700 acres of protected-land vegetables, and 10 rationally arranged plots. Among them, greenhouse tomatoes were recognized as pollution-free food by the national quality inspection department in 2004, and were sold to Jilin, Heilongjiang and other places, and exported to Russia.
Over the past 20 years, with the continuous development of the market economy, the original extensive old-fashioned vegetable greenhouses have been gradually replaced by high-standard steel frame greenhouses; from open field planting to the current diversified, special-purpose production; from relying on the sky for food, From extensive management to precise management that continuously improves the scientific and technological content of production technology, vegetable production has become one of the three leading industries in the township. This alone can accommodate 2,000 laborers every year. The average annual vegetable output reaches 5 million jins, with an output value of 4 million yuan, which improves farmers' income and increases social benefits.
Over the years, Gulouzi Township has established a complete one-stop service system for pre-production, mid-production and post-production, guiding farmers to freely combine production and marketing cooperative organizations. At present, there are more than 30 vegetable brokers in the township, who are engaged in vegetable sales all year round. A border town fruit and vegetable development center and a vegetable industry professional cooperative have been established to further standardize and marketize vegetable production in the township. The Border City Fruit and Vegetable Development Center registered the "Border City" trademark for Gulouzi Township vegetables with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce in 2004, safeguarding regional interests and increasing product visibility.
