Renderings of Toyota Corolla performance version expected to debut in 2023 exposed

Recently, some foreign media exposed a set of renderings of the performance version of the Toyota Corolla. It is reported that the new car will be developed and built based on the ordinary hatchback version of the Corolla model, adding a sports style package and replacing it with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. Toyota has submitted a trademark application for the car to the Australian Intellectual Property Office, and it will be officially unveiled as soon as 2023.

In terms of appearance, compared with the ordinary version of the hatchback Corolla model, the new car will add a new GR-treated sports style package to the air intake grille, front and rear bumpers, rear spoiler lip, and wheel rims. All aspects adopt a new style, which looks very trendy and dynamic with the blue paint. In order to further highlight the performance version of the car, exclusive "GR" logos will be added to many places on the body.

In terms of power, the new car is expected to be equipped with the same new 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine as the GR Yaris, code-named G16E-GTS. The GR Yaris model equipped with the same engine has a maximum power of 272 horsepower. The peak torque reaches 370N·m, matched with a 6-speed manual transmission, and may adopt a four-wheel drive system. We will continue to pay attention to more news about the car.
