1931: Birth

After years of grafting and improvement, Changyu Company’s vineyards in Yantai developed a wine grape variety cultivated by the Chinese that was later widely recognized internationally—— Changyu used Snake Dragon Pearl as the main wine-making raw material, blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and other grape varieties to brew a dry red with a new taste, which was later named Cabernet.

Changyu General Manager Xu Wangzhi invited a group of literati to gather at the Yantai International Club to research and name this dry red.
