Fuji apple is an excellent apple variety bred in 1939 by crossing Guoguang as female parent and Marshal as male parent in Morioka branch of fruit experimental field of Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. After more than 20 years, it has the advantages of late maturity, good quality, delicious taste and storage resistance. Officially named 1962, it is the most famous late-maturing apple variety in the world.
China introduced Fuji apples from 1966. 1 In the spring of 980, when the Ministry of Agriculture organized relevant experts to visit Japan, they selectively introduced seedlings and scions of several Fuji strains with better colors, such as Changfu No.2, Qiu Fu1and Changfu No.6, and arranged for systematic observation and research in several pilot areas in the main apple producing areas. Today, Fuji apples have grown to nearly one million hectares in China, and have replaced the late-maturing variety Guoguang in Liaoning, Shandong, Hebei, Beijing, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Tianjin, Henan, Jiangsu, Anhui, Gansu and other provinces and cities.
Fuji apples are characterized by being big, red and round, and the average size is like baseball. In the weight of fruit, 9- 1 1% is monosaccharide, and its pulp is more compact, sweeter and crisper than many other apple varieties, so it is widely loved by consumers all over the world. Compared with other apples, Fuji apples have a longer best eating date and do not even need to be stored in the refrigerator. It can be stored for 4 months at room temperature, and Fuji apples can be stored for 5 to 7 months if they are put in the refrigerator.
