Agriculture is the main body of the national economy in Yuexi County. Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, agricultural output value accounted for about 90% of the total industrial and agricultural output value. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the industrial structure continued to change and industrial output value increased day by day. By 1985, agricultural output value still accounted for 70% of the total national economy.
With the transformation of rural production relations, agricultural development has experienced ups and downs. In the early 1950s, with land reform, mutual assistance and cooperation, agricultural production developed rapidly. From 1958 to 1960, the "Great Leap Forward" and people's communes were implemented, and the "communist wind" spread, leading to a great setback in agricultural and animal husbandry production. In 1961, "responsible fields" were implemented, resulting in a bumper grain harvest. In 1962, the responsible field was recovered. After three years of adjustments, agricultural production has become somewhat stable. In 1969, it suffered a severe flood and its grain output dropped significantly. During the "Cultural Revolution", "agriculture imitated Dazhai" and "driven to Guozhuang", cutting off the tail of capitalism, restricting diversified operations, focusing solely on grain, and agricultural production stagnated for a long time. In the late 1970s, due to the strengthening of farmland infrastructure, the increase of water conservancy facilities, the gradual promotion of improved varieties and new technologies, and the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, agriculture has developed greatly. However, there have been many iterations in the development strategy. It has successively proposed "pine, fir, and bamboo in the high mountains, and tung, tea, and fruit in the low mountains"; ", mulberry, cattle"; "launching small five gardens to solve the problem of wearing oil and salt money", etc., with the changes in the main person in charge of the county, "one general issued an order", none of them persisted to the end, and local advantages were never formed. After 1979, the rural economic system that was incompatible with production relations and productivity was reformed, and the household contract responsibility system was gradually implemented. Various operations in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and sideline fishery were fully developed. The prices of agricultural and sideline products increased accordingly, and the total agricultural output value increased significantly. In 1980, it increased by 28% compared with 1979. From 1981 to 1985, the average annual increase was 4.16%. In 1985, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and sideline fishery reached 67.51 million yuan based on 1980 constant prices. Compared with 1949, grain output increased by 1.4 times, tea output increased by 1.2 times, silkworm cocoon output increased by 35 times, and pig breeding increased by 6.5 times. times, and the amount of large livestock raised increased by 1.2 times.
Yuexi County has little arable land and cannot be self-sufficient in food. In the 1980s, the planting area of ??mid-season crops generally declined, the planting area of ??double-cropping rice shrank, and the total grain output value hovered. In 1985, the per capita grain output of the agricultural population was only 272 kilograms, 47.5% lower than the provincial average. Developing agricultural production and improving food self-sufficiency are the primary tasks of Yuexi County in getting rid of poverty and becoming rich.
In 2012, 33,000 acres of tea gardens were built or renovated, and tea output and output value increased by 31% and 36.4% respectively. The planting area of ??alpine vegetables is 129,000 acres, with a total output value of 500 million yuan, an increase of 41.5%. Yuexi Cuilan has become a national geographical indication protected product and one of 100 regional public brands of agricultural products in China. Yuexi County has won the titles of "National Agricultural (Tea) Standardization Demonstration County", "Top Ten Tea Counties in Anhui Province" and "National Key County for Vegetable Industry". The annual amount of silkworms raised, the amount of cocoons produced, and the income of silkworm farmers all rank first in the province. The newly developed Chinese medicinal material base covers an area of ??5,700 acres. More than 30,000 acres are transferred to the mountain farm throughout the year, and economic trees such as Sanya, Ginkgo, Torreya, and Paper Brush are planted. 505 new agricultural cooperatives were established. The construction of the Calamus Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zone has achieved initial results, and the Wenquan Modern Agriculture Comprehensive Development Demonstration Zone has started construction. There are 600 agricultural product processing enterprises, with an annual processing output value of 5 billion yuan. Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yuexi County only had handicraft production. In April of the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), the county government set up a civilian factory to produce leather paper by hand. In 1931, the county established five factories including papermaking, cigarette, sewing, printing, and smelting. In July 1933, the County Cooperative Federation established two oil-pressing and cotton-weaving factories, as well as a sewing department and an umbrella-making department. By the end of 2007, there were 907 handicraft production workshops in the county, with a total of 1,115 people, mainly engaged in the production of pig iron, iron pots, agricultural tools, and grease.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, modern industry started from scratch and gradually developed. In May 1958, the County Party Committee Industrialization Committee was established, and each district was assigned a secretary in charge of industry. By the end of the year, all 52 handicraft production cooperatives, organizations and factories in the county had been converted into local state-owned factories or commune factories. There are 9,674 names of factories and mines planned to be expanded throughout the year, and most of them are in name only. In 1961, there were a large number of closures, suspensions, mergers and transfers. The number of factories was reduced from 185 to 106, and the number of employees was reduced from 5501 to 2640.
In April 1966, the provincial Maojianshan Hydropower Station was built to generate electricity, and energy for industrial production has since been guaranteed.
In 1967, the "Cultural Revolution" spread to the industrial system, workers were involved in the movement, and "rebels" took power for a while. Fighting broke out, the regulatory agencies were paralyzed, most factories stopped production, and output values ??dropped sharply.
After 1977, county-run industry entered a period of steady development. In 1979, the industrial structure was adjusted again, management methods were reformed, scientific and technological talents were reused, administration was streamlined and powers were delegated, and the competitive awareness and vitality of each enterprise increased year by year. In the early stage of the adjustment, products were changed from the past production and sales guarantees to market-regulated sales. Some companies were unable to adapt for a while, and at one time they had a backlog of products and suffered serious losses. In 1983, a county enterprise rectification leading group was established to comprehensively rectify county-owned enterprises.
In 1985, various economic responsibility systems centered on contracting were fully implemented, and various forms of contracting such as reforming the employment system and distribution system, fixed quota contracting, excess bonuses, piece-rate wages, and linking profits and taxes to total wages were implemented. The system has gradually improved, employees' sense of responsibility has increased, the company's product output has increased, quality has improved, costs have decreased, profits have increased, and employee wages have increased significantly. By the end of the year, there were 106 industrial enterprises in the county. Among them, there are 23 industrial sector offices with 1,886 employees. The total industrial output value for the year was 29.02 million yuan, and the original value of fixed assets was 44.23 million yuan.
In 2012, it actively helped enterprises obtain project funds of 120 million yuan and financing of 420 million yuan. There were 13 new large-scale enterprises, reaching 77, and the production and sales rate reached 99.27%. The total industrial output value of large-scale industries exceeded 10 billion yuan, an increase of 25%. Three new high-tech enterprises have been added, and the number of patent applications and authorizations ranks among the top in the city. Launched the listing of Swan, Huimingshan and cylinder liner companies. "Tianxin" and "Liangqi" have applied for China's well-known trademarks and have been submitted to the State Administration for Industry and Commerce for approval.
