Back to the topic, when we talk about business ecology, we need to look at the surface and analyze the deeper side. What is ecology? When we look at nature, no matter how big the ecosystem is, it must have a self-circulating system to ensure ecological stability and growth. Among the three systems in this topic, in fact, Xiaomi is still strictly speaking It cannot be a qualified business ecosystem, because the soil for building Xiaomi's ecosystem is not fertile and can easily be subverted. Furthermore, in a healthy ecology, every factor in the ecology is independent and affects each other, and their importance to each other is relatively equal. Judging from this standard, Xiaomi has not yet built its own ecosystem. Currently, only Alibaba and Tencent have built a relatively complete and healthy ecosystem.

1. Alibaba Ecology:

Alibaba started as an e-commerce company, so for Alibaba, it is more important to enrich and expand the consumption scenarios of e-commerce, and it has always been an important aspect of Alibaba. capabilities and continue to expand new boundaries based on this.

Secondary businesses such as payment, servers, and logistics that are naturally related to e-commerce can also develop. In other words, because Alibaba is born with the ability to do business, heavyweight or sub-heavyweight businesses such as DingTalk and Alibaba Cloud can develop in Alibaba.

Some people may ask: The number of users of WeChat is obviously higher than that of Taobao, why not Tencent? Some people think that Baidu did not experience any downtime during the Spring Festival Gala this year, so they concluded that Baidu's technology must be higher than Alibaba's. Regardless of the technical capabilities of Baidu and Alibaba, there is no doubt that the complexity of the e-commerce transaction environment is higher than that of Baidu and WeChat. 2. Tencent Ecosystem

As of now, I have always believed that the industries and scale linked to the Tencent system are larger than those of the Alibaba system. You may have paid attention to Tencent's recent financial report and feel that Tencent is in decline. Here we need to explain the different investment philosophies of Alibaba and Tencent: Alibaba tends to be integrated, while Tencent tends to be associated. The consequence of this is that the Alibaba department is getting bigger and bigger in terms of appearance, while the Tencent department feels that it has not changed much.

However, the industrial foundation of the Tencent system may be better than that of the Alibaba system. The foundation of the Tencent system is social networking, and the To C ecosystem is built on social networking. Such a business system links to a larger group of people, but it is also easily limited to a specific national situation and environment. Just like whether it is WeChat or Tencent's other businesses, it is not ideal to go overseas. The most successful one may be the game business. But this does not ignore the ability of Tencent’s system to attract money.

If we go deep into the Tencent ecosystem, we will find that the various factors in the Tencent ecosystem both influence and are independent of each other. Based on WeChat, it can easily obtain traffic for companies in the system such as Meituan and JD.com. But whether it is social business, e-commerce business, game business, etc., they can all make their own blood. What's more critical is to master the huge user scale of the C-side, and the ability to expand boundaries will undoubtedly be greatly enhanced. We look at the two important business wars in the growth process of Tencent: 1. Competition with 360; 2. Competition with Toutiao. Is it to protect its own capabilities and business and ensure that Tencent’s ecological infrastructure is not destroyed, but in fact It is also easy to encounter challenges in this field.

The resources controlled by Tencent’s ecosystem determine that he can attack everywhere and achieve certain results. For example: content ecology (China Literature Group, Tencent Music, etc.), payment field (in fact, only products like WeChat can give Alibaba a blow in the payment field), etc.

The disadvantages brought about by this are also obvious. So far, we have not found an excellent To B-side product developed by Tencent. WeChat has also developed an enterprise version, but it seems that not many people use it, and the experience is really Very unfriendly, but strangely unable to describe it. Even Tencent Cloud products are included.

I have been thinking that with the development of technology, technology empowers individuals and individuals become more and more powerful. If one day, each individual can be equivalent to a small individual business unit today, then will the power of Alibaba's ecosystem surpass that of Tencent's? This answer, it seems that this is not possible yet.

3. Xiaomi Ecology

Why did I say that Xiaomi’s ecology is not yet sound? Because Xiaomi’s ecology is very dependent on the mobile phone business. It is more like a central control system, with mobile phones as the Center, extending to other businesses, seems to be very large in scale and variety, but once a company or brand breaks through to the core business of mobile phones, will Xiaomi's ecology be prone to problems?

Huawei also announced at its recent press conference that it has begun to lay out its ecosystem, and manufacturers such as OPPO are also following suit. It is foreseeable that this type of ecological competition will become more intense. Whether it is Xiaomi or Huawei, it is a system closer to the Internet of Things. Through the Internet, each smart device is used as a link to form a certain network, such as a home network, a health network, etc., and then a large network is generated in the background. The data is analyzed to complete the tracking of the specific behaviors of individual consumers. This imaginary scenario may be closer to Xiaomi's ecosystem, but whether it can make consumers form habits and become dependent is still a question mark at this stage. If this is true, then Xiaomi’s ecology is reasonable and established. Otherwise, it is difficult to draw a conclusion.
