Deciduous shrubs or small trees,
Leaves ovoid or broadly ovoid, heart-shaped, with slightly sparse stellate hairs on the leaves, gray or brown stellate hairs on the back, and irregular shallow teeth on the edges. The wood core is bright red, magnificent and magical, comparable to safflower pear in Africa. Wood is as tough as beech (golden silk lang), but it is more resistant to carving, delicate and vivid than beech. Suitable for growing in dry sunny valleys and sparse forest areas.
