What is the definition of trademark registration in India?

The types of trademarks that can be registered in India include commodity trademarks, series trademarks, joint trademarks, certification marks and defensive trademarks. Service marks cannot be registered yet. India is a country that adopts its own commodity classification. Commodity classification is similar to the international classification. Each trademark registration application can only include one category. Textiles (including goods in categories 22 to 27) are divided into 15 groups and 94 items. Applications for these 94 commodities need to be submitted separately. India is a member state of the World Intellectual Property Organization and became a member state of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property on December 7, 1998.
