Many saxophone practitioners just don't know how to choose a sentry, so they blindly buy a practice.

In fact, whistle is very important for saxophone playing. A good whistle can make you play beautiful timbre, and different whistles have their own different styles.

At present, major whistle manufacturers have different styles of whistle products, some for jazz, some for fashion, and some for classical. So how to choose a suitable whistle is a headache for many practitioners. Of course, it is a very direct way to buy a trial directly. But it takes a lot of time and money, which many amateur friends can't afford. Here I will show you how to choose a suitable whistle.

First of all, we need to know the purpose and making materials of the whistle. I don't need to say more about this. I think everyone knows.

Secondly, we should know that reeds grown in different places have different timbres. Most friends think foreign reeds are so good. In fact, the best reeds were planted in China, but a large part of them were transplanted in France during the Opium War, and now there are some in Argentina. So to be precise, the best whistles should come from China, French and Argentine. But because China's processing technology can't keep up, it's the best now.

Secondly, French products such as Van Doren and Alexander are the foreign brands that are easy to buy in China. RICO is the only better brand in China, so I recommend these three brands.

1).RICO usually has a box around 50 yuan, which is more suitable for beginners to practice. It is recommended to buy hardness above 2.5, which is suitable for various styles.

2) Rico's export version is generally not easy to buy, but the quality is first-class. If you are lucky enough to buy it, it is recommended to buy size 2 and a half, which is more suitable for POP.

3). Van Doren is generally below 200 yuan, so it is more suitable for practice, and its performance is average. According to the brand classification, it is recommended to buy more than size 2.5, but generally speaking, the sound is brighter, which is more suitable for pop and jazz.

4) Alexander, this is a Rolls Royce honking its horn. Generally, this brand of about 220 is selected by professional students, with moderate timbre and easy control. However, it is recommended to buy a size above 3, because it is soft. The DC, pop and classical in the whistle have a good performance, recommended to buy!

When buying whistles, I suggest that qualified friends try to choose imported brands, because the quality and timbre of imported products are guaranteed in all aspects and are more reliable.

The above is my suggestion, I hope it will be useful to you. Other whistles with special performance are generally not recommended, and Alexander is enough. It seems that I have seen a method in that book before, that is, the surface of the whistle is smoothed and compacted, which has the advantage of delaying the life of the whistle. I picked up a whistle two days ago and observed it carefully. I found that the front may be a little rough and not smooth because of long-term use. So I want to do an experiment in this way. I found a small stainless steel spoon and rubbed it back and forth on the front of the whistle with the shiny surface at the bottom of the spoon until the front of the whistle looked smooth and reflective, and then I tried it on the mouthpiece. As a result, the saxophone made an unprecedented crisp sound, bright and transparent, which made me overjoyed and quite fulfilled. _ _, you can also try to improve the tone of the whistle in this way. It should be noted that the flat side of the whistle must be placed on the glass, otherwise the uneven stress may damage the whistle. On the other hand, I did experiments on the surface of a whistle that had not been soaked in water. I think the organizational structure of a whistle soaked in water has softened, and polishing the surface of such a whistle with metal may destroy the internal structure of the whistle, which is counterproductive.

I used a No.2.5 Rico whistle with an orange outer package, which seemed a little hard for me. I have to use water sandpaper to thin each new whistle in the same proportion before it can be used normally. Of course, this process needs to be very detailed, and the processing of each part of the whistle surface will correspond to the corresponding timbre. I will share it with you when I find the relevant content.
