What is the general process of applying for registration of a Dutch trademark?
1. Submit an application: Before applying for a Dutch trademark, the applicant should search the registered or applied Dutch trademark. In order to prevent infringement of the prior rights of other people's trademarks or avoid similarity or duplication with the registered Dutch trademark, the trademark will be rejected or raised an objection.

2. Review stage: Once the Dutch trademark registration application is submitted, the Benelux Trademark Office will assign an examiner to review whether the application content meets all formal requirements. If there are any questions, the examiner will notify the applicant to supplement the materials. At the same time, the Dutch trademark products or services described in the application will be determined as the trademark classification that needs to be specified according to the Nice classification.

3. Announcement Objection Stage: After the Dutch trademark registration application is made public, anyone can object to the registration of the trademark within 2 months. Objection can apply online or submit a paper objection application and pay the objection fee.

4. Trademark registration: If the Dutch trademark registration application fully meets the legal requirements, BOIP will register the Dutch trademark after the expiration of the publicity period. Generally, it takes three months to complete all the procedures, and if there is rejection or objection during the application process, the time will be extended. On the date of registration of the Dutch trademark, the applicant also obtained the exclusive right to use the trademark. However, if there is a dispute, the date of trademark application is the basis for determining which party obtains the trademark first.
