"Daqianmen" brand cigarette label was introduced by British American Tobacco Company in five years of the Republic of China (19 16). It sells well in Shanghai and is very popular all over China. During the period from 1983 to 1986, some cigarette factories went public to produce "Daqianmen" by way of joint venture. Cigarette factories in Nanjing, Xuzhou, Chongqing, Harbin, Bengbu, Wuhu, Xuchang, Kaifeng, Luohe, Linru, Taiyuan and Binxian all produce "Daqianmen" brand cigarettes supervised by Shanghai Cigarette Factory.
According to relevant statistics, there have been more than 300 different formats of "Daqianmen" brand cigarette labels in the past 90 years, which has become the cigarette label with the longest service life and the largest number of manufacturers in China. Its design pattern has not changed much except for a little modification and a few brands with different colors. There have been so many brand changes in more than 90 years, which is unique in the history of cigarette labels in China.
There are three major changes in the cigarette label of "Daqianmen", which is more attractive. First, 1952 Before Daqianmen was nationalized in April, many manufacturers' nameplates were "Qianmen" followed by the word "Da", which was catchy and popular among smokers. Therefore, the "big front door" has replaced the "front door" card. Second, the label pattern of "Daqianmen" brand cigarettes produced after 1952 has no characters. In the old cigarette label patterns made before, there are tourists leaning against the railing in front of the front gate building, people wearing gowns, coats and hats, and workers carrying luggage on their shoulders. The old cigarette label directly reflected the living conditions of the people at that time, while the new cigarette label was more concise. Third, the background color of "Daqianmen" is light gray, which has not changed for more than 80 years, leaving a deep impression on consumers. In recent years, as a new attempt, Tianjin Cigarette Factory has introduced big red and sky blue, and Qingdao Cigarette Factory has introduced silver gray, which is also very popular among collectors.
