The "Madrid Union" mainly refers to a special alliance for the international registration of trademarks composed of countries or intergovernmental organizations to which the "Madrid Agreement" and the "Madrid Protocol" apply. As of August 2017, the Madrid Alliance has 99 parties, covering 115 countries. Major economies in the world, including China, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Russia, Japan, Australia, and Switzerland, are members of the Madrid Alliance.
