What does Jimai mean?

Jimai is now Qushui County in Tibet.

Qushui, known as "Jimai" in Tibetan in ancient times, means "the state where rivers meet". It has been a transportation hub connecting Lhasa with Shannan, Nyingchi and Shigatse since ancient times. It was established as a county in 1959. In 2016, Qushui County was listed as the second batch of national comprehensive pilot areas for new urbanization. In October 2018, the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region officially approved the withdrawal of Qushui County from poverty-stricken counties.
