Intel Corporation is headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA. The founders of Intel, Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore, originally wanted the name of their new company to be a combination of their names - Moore Noyce. However, when they went to the Industrial and Commercial Bureau to register, they found that the name had already been registered by a hotel chain. As a last resort, they adopted the abbreviation of "INTegrated Electronics" as the company name. The current top operating executives are Chairman Craig Barrett and President and CEO Paul Otellini.
