Sesame oil is one of the three best edible oils announced by WHO. It not only has high nutritional value, but also has medicinal value. It is listed in China, the United States, and Japan. Pharmacopoeia of other countries, so it is called the "King of Oils". Our country is one of the major countries in sesame planting and production, and its output ranks first in the world. Sesame oil occupies a very important position in people's daily lives.

Recently, the Anhui Provincial Consumer Rights Protection Committee announced the comparative test results of sesame oil quality. Among the 54 brands of sesame oil tested this time, 5 brands of sesame oil, namely Ma Xiangyuan, Yishengxiang, Centenary Chushi, Zhangjia Popo, and Xiyachu, had items that failed to meet the standards.

In order to guide consumers to choose safe and healthy sesame oil, the Anhui Provincial Consumer Rights Protection Committee launched a series of sesame oil consumption surveys and sesame oil quality comparison tests from September to December 2018.

Based on the sesame oil consumption survey, Anhui Provincial Consumer Protection Committee staff purchased 54 brands of sesame oil as consumers through shopping malls, supermarkets, farmers’ markets and online e-commerce platforms. There are 51 brands and 3 imported brands. Brands include Yanzhuang, Lee Kum Kee, Luhua, Totole, Fulinmen, Hu Yumei, Arowana, etc.

This test is mainly based on the "National Consumers Association Comparative Test Work Specifications (Trial)", GB/T16759-2008 "General Principles for Comparative Tests of Consumer Goods and Related Services", GB7718-2011 "National Food Safety Standard Preliminary "General Principles for Labeling of Packaged Foods", GB/T8233-2008, GB/T8233-2018 "Sesame Oil" and other national laws, regulations and standards. The project involves product labeling, fatty acid composition, acid value, peroxide value, aflatoxin B1, benzo [α]pyrene, sesamin, sesalin and vitamin E and other indicators. The test results are only responsible for the samples tested.

Special note, the new national standard GB/T8233-2018 sesame oil will be implemented on December 1, 2018. In order to help consumers better understand the quality of sesame oil, this report combines the two versions of the 2008 and 2018 standards. Analyzed and compared.

From the perspective of purchasing channels, the test results of the five brands of sesame oil purchased on the online platform all met the standard; among the 40 brands of sesame oil purchased in supermarkets, the test results of 37 met the standard, with a compliance rate of 92.5; Among the 6 brands of sesame oil purchased from the trade market, 4 had test results that met the standard, with a compliance rate of 66.67.

In this sesame oil comparison test, 11 brands of sesame oil received five stars (high quality), namely: Longxi brand one drop of fragrant sesame oil, Golden Arowana brand pure sesame oil, and Jiugui brand thick sesame oil. (Made in Japan), Yanzhuang brand sesame oil, Fulinmen brand first-class fine ground sesame oil, Luhua brand sesame oil, Cui Zi brand black sesame oil, Delong Zhanggui brand small ground sesame oil, Zhende brand ancient stone ground sesame oil, Lee Kum Kee Brand Pure Fragrance Sesame Oil, Totole Brand Sesame Oil.

In this test, there are some problems with the sour prices of the three brands: Chushi, Hu Zhenxing and Fuweixiang.

The acid value test result of Centenary Chushi 100 pure sesame oil (marked grade: first grade; manufacturer: Shangqiu Zhushi Food Co., Ltd., production date: 2017.11.16) is 2.5mg/g, which does not meet the requirements GB/T8233-2008 standard requirements, in line with GB/T8233-2018 standard requirements;

Hu Zhenxing black sesame oil (origin: Singapore, production date: 2018.01.03) and Fuweixiang black sesame oil (marked grade: Level 2, manufacturer: Shanghai Fuweixiang Oil and Fat Food Co., Ltd., production date: 2017.11.13) The acid values ??are 3.2mg/g and 3.4mg/g respectively, which meet the requirements of the GB/T8233-2008 standard and do not meet the GB/T8233 -2018 standard requirements.

Among the sesame oils tested in this comparative test, the benzo[α]pyrene of 51 brands of sesame oils all met the national standards. However, benzo[α]pyrene was detected in 15 groups of sesame oil samples, two of which The value is ≥2.0μg/kg.

Benzo[alpha]pyrene is a recognized strong carcinogen. Due to its strong lipophilicity, oils and fats are often reported to be one of the main sources of benzo[α]pyrene in food. The main production pathways are: benzo[α]pyrene in the air or soil during the growth and drying of oil crops. pollution; produced during the high-temperature roasting of seeds; produced during the heating and desolvation process of oil produced by the leaching method. Therefore, in recent years, it has attracted more and more attention from researchers and countries around the world. EU Document No. 629/2008 stipulates that the maximum residue limit of benzo[α]pyrene in edible oils and fats is 2 μg/kg. my country’s GB2716-2005 " The "Hygienic Standards for Edible Vegetable Oils" stipulates that it is 10 μg/kg.

The test results also show that the vitamin E, sesamin and sesalin contained in different sesame oils are very different.

The Anhui Provincial Consumer Protection Commission stated that any substandard samples found in this test will be transferred to the relevant administrative departments for processing.
