From 1984 to 1997, he served as deputy director of the Foreign Investment Division, director of the Foreign Trade Division, deputy director and director of the Treaty and Law Department of the Ministry of Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation of China. From 1987 to 1999, he was elected as a director of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law and a director of the International Development School of Law, and participated in the formulation of the "International Financial Leasing Convention" and the "General Principles of Commercial Contracts". Attorney Zhang Yuejiao is an executive director of the China Law Society, a part-time professor at Renmin University, China University of International Business and Economics and other law schools, and a professor at Shantou University Law School.

From 1998 to 2004, Lawyer Zhang Yuejiao served as Assistant General Counsel of the Asian Development Bank, Deputy Director of the East Asia Regional Bureau, Deputy Director of the Mekong Regional Bureau, Co-Chairman of the Appeals Committee of the Asian Development Bank, Director of Europe of the Asian Development Bank, etc. Position, responsible for the Asian Development Bank's legal and policy reform projects, loans, financing, regional cooperation, cooperation between international organizations, etc.

In February 2005, he served as a director of the West African Development Bank. Lawyer Zhang Yuejiao is an arbitrator of the China International Trade Arbitration Commission and the Beijing Arbitration Center. She has handled more than 100 economic disputes. She has also appeared as a legal expert in the London High Court of Trade and International Chamber of Commerce arbitration cases, recovering a large amount of losses for the parties.

On November 27, 2007, Zhang Yuejiao was elected as a justice of the WTO Appellate Body. Zhang Yuejiao's term is four years, starting on June 1, 2008.

On May 20, 2008, Zhang Yuejiao was officially sworn in as a judge of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization in Geneva. Her four-year term will begin on June 1, 2008.
