Lai Shigang’s father, Mr. Lai Guishan, was a leading figure in Guizhou’s business and cultural circles in the early 20th century. Before liberation, Mr. Lai Guishan served as Guizhou Provincial Senate, Guiyang Municipal Senate, Municipal Chamber of Commerce Supervisor, Consultant of Guizhou Enterprise Corporation, Director of Guishan People's Library, Standing Committee Member of Guiyang Zhongshan Park Revitalization Committee, and President of Guizhou's "Mainland News" , member of Guizhou Calligraphers Association and other titles.
After the founding of New China, the three largest Moutai distilleries, "Laimao", "Huamao" and "Wangmao", were all state-owned and the "Kweichow Moutai Distillery" was established. Its products "Kweichow Moutai" is known as the "national liquor". After the reform and opening up in the 1980s, at the age of 80, Lai Guishan led his children and grandchildren many times to Maotai Town to select sites to build factories and revive his ancestral business. Under the leadership of his father Lai Guishan, Lai Shigang devoted himself to exploring the liquor culture and craftsmanship, determined to promote Laimao culture and inherit the Lai family business. He successively registered "Lai Shigang", "Lai Zonggui", "Lai Jiamao", "Lai Shen" and "Lai Yu" ", and more than ten liquor trademarks. Due to his strict compliance with the tradition and formula of "Laimao" liquor created by his father, the product has been deeply loved by consumers since it was put on the market. In 1995, it won the third China Science and Technology Award. The only gold medal in the food category at the Star International Expo.
