Mr Joan Dunka, the current Romanian ambassador to China, is a devout art lover. He said: From the day I met the painter Xu Guangwei, I saw that his paintings were of great artistic value, so I suggested asking him to hold an exhibition at the Romanian Embassy. Mr. Xu Guangwei accepted my invitation. In order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the birth 150 of Minnis Ku, the greatest poet in China, and also to celebrate the year of Luo Aimis Ku in 2000, Mr. Xu Guangwei painted a portrait of this poet.
Professor Ye Yuzhong of the Central Academy of Fine Arts also praised Xu Guangwei. He said Wen Wei and I studied Chinese painting together. In fact, he studied at home since he was a child, and later went to Beijing Painting Academy for further study. He has studied under many famous teachers, such as Mr. Liu Shuling, Mr. Wang Wenfang, Mr. Liu Zhanjiang and Mr. Li Kuizheng. He is a talented painter and calligrapher. Specifically, his genius lies in diligence. In the years of communication between our teachers and students, he is actually learning from each other. He is more diligent than me. Judging from my feelings today, I think he is very successful.
