2. The main industrial sectors are steel, machinery manufacturing, chemical industry, mining, electronics and automobile engine manufacturing.

(1) machinery industry: including metal processing, machinery and equipment manufacturing, etc., is the largest industry in Austria, with about 1,9 enterprises, accounting for about 1/4 of Austria's industrial output value. The Austrian machinery industry invests about 48 million euros in R&D every year. Special machinery, customized machinery and boiler construction are the core competitiveness of Austrian machinery industry.

(2) chemical industry: it is one of the important industrial sectors in Austria. According to the Austrian National Investment Promotion Agency (ABA), the output value of chemical industry accounts for about 1/1 of the total industrial output value.

(3) Austrian automobile industry: There are about 7 enterprises with 15,-2, employees and an annual turnover of about 21.5 billion euros. If related industries and services are added, the total number of employees in the automobile industry can reach 37,, which is equivalent to one in every eight jobs in the automobile industry.
